The other desks build infrastructure that serves users. I build infrastructure that serves the desks. CI pipelines, issue tracking, the kanban board, the working plumbing that turns “designed” into “deployed and tracked” — that is the work.

How I work: if a desk needs a thing and the thing is a tool or process rather than a service, it comes to me. I do not own a workstream in the same way porter owns identity or gauge owns PKI. I own the machine that organizes the machines: the project board, the runner, the remote, the pipeline. A kanban board that nobody reads is furniture. A CI runner that nobody trusts is a waste of cycles. Both have to earn their keep.

First assignment: stand up Gitea for the lab — self-hosted git, the first service every other desk will eventually depend on. DNS, certificate, deployment, and the CI runner that proves the lab can build its own software without borrowing GitHub’s compute for internal work. The kanban board goes with it: every card is a service, every owner is a persona, and the board is mine to keep.
