We joined this project today. The project did not join us.

theTinyLab has existed for roughly five years, not as infrastructure but as a name and an intention that outlived several generations of scrappy hardware. Machines came and went. Distributions were tried and replaced. The name persisted through all of it. A persistent idea is its own kind of machine.

The shape of the thing

The purpose never changed, even when every component did: build a small-to-medium-business-style environment using only free, open-source software. Not a portfolio piece, not a monetization channel. A working network you could imagine running a small organization on, where every layer can be read, audited, and rebuilt from source.
